Odalisca (1862) by the Italian painter Luigi Mussini (1813-1888). Despite it’s already in the fashion of orientalism it’s still a very neoclassical painting.

Sweet Berber Girls

Two sweet Berber girls by the French painter Alphonse-Étienne Dinet (1861- 1929). I don’t believe that he really saw anything like this, but he made a lot of money with his fantasies.

Cool Lady in New York by by the British illustrator David Wright (1912-1967). Kind of pin up, but gorgeous anyway.

Diana Bathing

Diana Bathing (1869/1870) by the French painter Jean-Baptiste Camille Corot (1796-1875). Though Corot became famous for his landscape paintings, he was one of the founders of the Babizon School, in his beginnings he did more traditional art like this Diana.

Black Swan

Leda with the Swan (1917) by the Russian Art Nouveau painter Nikolai Kalmakov (1873-1955). Most impressing to me seems, that it’s a black swan. Was it only because of the colour or should it indicate some kind of evil?

Bendiction by the Australian painter Norman Lindsay (1879-1969). Another of these proud and self confident women, which are so typical fpr Lindsay.

Witches' Sabbath

Faust (1878) by the Spanish painter Luis Ricardo Falero (1851-1896). Falero shows here very sensational the witches' sabbath or Walpurgis Night, to wich Faust was taken by Mephisto.

Neoclassical Nude

Callirrhoe by the French painter Raymond Auguste Quinsac Monvoisin (1790-1870). Monvoisin depicted here a Greek naiad in a pure neoclassical style including the temple in the back.

Massage in the Harem

The Massage in the Harem (1883) by the French painter Édouard Debat-Ponsan (1847-1913). One of the better, means more interesting oriental paintings.

Salomé Dancing

Salomé (1932) by the Spanish painter Federico Beltrán Massés (1885-1949). Kind of an Art Deco interpretation. Because there’s no head to be seen, it must be the moment when she’s still dancing, putting down the veils.

Beautiful Slave to Sale

A slave on the market by the Brazilian painter Oscar Pereira da Silva (1867-1939). The sign between her breasts announces that she’s a virgin, but she doesn’t seem scared more curious and defying.

Elegant Art Deco Nude

Reclining nude by the French Art Deco painter Jean-Gabriel Domergue (1889-1962). Domergue painted such elegant women that it’s more about style than about erotic, which also can be the same.

A Goddess

Flora (1559) by the Flemish painter Jan Massys (1509-1575). One of my personal theories is, that Massys mostly painted the same girl, but she must have been something of gorgeous…

Dark Lady

Alice Joyce (1920) a magazine cover illustration by the famous American artist Rolf Armstrong (1889-1960). Armstrong became famous for his pin ups, but this mysterious lady is much better.

An Odalisque

Odalisque (1885) by the Spanish painter César Alvarez-Dumont (1866-1945). Looks like she’s having there a good time in the harem. Good work anyway.

Puppet Master

The woman and the puppet (1927) by the Belgian painter Jean Leon Henri Gouweloos (1865-1943). For a gorgeous nude men are not much more than puppets.

Tropic Evening

Tropic Evening by the Italian American artist John LaGatta (1894-1977). La Gatta was famous for his glamour girls from the 20s through the early 40s, published in fashion and women's magazines.

Green Lady

Nue allongée sur un canapé - Sonia Speranza (c.1915) by the French painter Paul-César Helleu (1859-1927), who was famous for his women portraits.

Lazy Girl

La Paresseuse (the lazy one) by the French painter Guillaume Seignac (1870 - 1924). One of Seignac’s Neo-Rococo nudes with a transparent shawl, which he did so well.

Amazonian Warrior

An Amazonian Warrior (1929) by the French American artist Andre Durenceau (1904-1985). It’s a impressive exotic art deco fantasy.

Skin like Silk

A nude by the Spanish impressionist painter Joaquín Sorolla y Bastida (1863-1923). Most impressive is here the semblance between the skin and the silken sheets.

Diana

Diana by the French painter Paul Désiré Trouillebert (1831-1900). Above all it’s a nude. Only bow and quiver indicate that it should be the Goddess of hunting.

A monk with a beguine (1591) by the Dutch Golden Age painter Cornelis Corneliszoon van Haarlem (1562- 1638).
It’s a radical protestant and anti-Catholic painting. But anyway it’s one of my favorites.

Another reclining nude by the French academic painter Delphin Enjolras (1857–1945). Enjolras used a lot of times the same tricks, the same poses, maybe the same girls.

Harem Dancer

A really gorgeous exotic dancer by the American artist Earle K. Bergey (1901–1952). Bergey worked normally as an illustrator for magazines and paperback books. But here it’s easy to be seen, that he’s a lot better than many of his academic colleagues.

The british specialist in scantily dressed girls John William Godward presents here Venus herself. No difference at all, between roman girls, priestesses or goddesses.

Another Bacchante

Another bacchante by the Spanish painter Joaquín Sorolla y Bastida (1863-1923). It seems that bacchantes were a good excuse to paint nudes.
